- Nose
Specimen Transport Temperature
Ambient.
Specimen must arrive in laboratory within 48 hours after collection.
Reference Values
No MRSA or MSSA isolated.

Collection Instructions
Collect a culture swab from one or both nares.. Culture swabs with Aimes or LQ Stuart transport media are acceptable.

Culture
MRSA/MSSA detection by PBP2a Immunoassay if indicated.
Culture is held for 48 hours before a final report is issued.
