Collection Instructions

Ratio of anticoagulant (present in the collection tube) to blood collected is very critical in coagulation studies. Check and collect the correct volume of blood as guided in collection tube label.

The etched minimum fill indicator represents the minimum volume of blood required for analysis. Immediately after the draw, gently invert the tube 3 to 4 times.

Methodology

Photo-optical clot detection

Patient Preparation

No special patient preparation is necessary.

Useful For

Monitoring heparin therapy (unfractionated heparin).

Screening for certain coagulation factor deficiencies and abnormalities (eg, factor VIII, IX, XI or XII).

Detecting coagulation inhibitors such as lupus anticoagulant, antiphospholipid antibodies, specific factor inhibitors, and nonspecific inhibitors.
