Specimen Requirements

Stool specimen submitted in a sterile container – minimum volume 0.5 ml or 0.5 grams

Specimen Transport Temperature

Ambient:  2 weeks

 

If storage time is greater than 2 weeks, specimens must be stored frozen at -20ºC or lower.

 

Specimens that are in transport media or that have been preserved in 10% formalin, Merthiolate Formalin, Sodium Acetate Formalin, Polyvinyl Alcohol, or other fixatives are not acceptable for Fecal Lactoferrin testing.
