Specimen Requirements

Nasal Swab

Specimens must be collected on a Nasopharyngeal swab in LQ Stuart Transport Media.

 

Swabs with Aimes Gel Transport media or dry swabs are unacceptable for testing.

Collection Instructions

Using the NP swab with the Green cap, swab both nares as deep into the nasal passages as possible without creating severe discomfort to the patient. Remove the white cap from the plastic transport container and place the swab into the container.
